Protection against fraud

Fraudulent use
of the Obvy trademark

Our recommendations and information on Obvy's services to protect you from fraud attempts

Scammers are attempting to run scams on classified ad sites using our brand. These scams are based on the unauthorised use of the Obvy brand and visual elements such as our logo, advertisements and artwork.

We are not a transport agency or a money courier
Obvy does not exchange money for goods, and does not directly handle goods sold on our services. Delivery transactions are done directly from Obvy, in partnership with Mondial Relay or Chronopost.

We never ask for additional fees outside of our environments, nor do we ask for payment vouchers
Obvy will never ask you to pay for additional fees or insurance via email or SMS. We will never ask you to send us payment coupons.

All payments are made within the Obvy web and mobile environments
All transactions and associated actions (payments, delivery management) are made within Obvy. Our mobile apps are available on official app shops under the Obvy name, and our web apps and payment pages always have "https://", "obvy-app.com" in their domain name and a padlock next to the web address of the page.

Our communications are through specific phone numbers and email addresses
All official Obvy emails come from email addresses ending in "@obvy-app.com", and we do not use Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook or other addresses.

We do not ask for your login or credit card information
Obvy will never ask you for your password, PIN, email address or any other personal information without a reason. Obvy will never ask you for your credit card or bank account details by email or telephone.

Recognising a fraudulent e-mail

All communications from Obvy to its users are via addresses ending in @obvy-app.com ([email protected], [email protected] etc). Obvy does not use Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail etc. Even if an email address has "Obvy" in it, this does not mean that it is a legitimate email. Always check that the address ends with @obvy-app.com.

If a suspicious email claims you have received money, this is impossible, as Obvy does not credit an account immediately. Obvy holds the money for the duration of the transaction, so no payment to an Obvy account is made until the transaction has been completed, requiring validation from both the buyer and the seller. For more information, please see the sections on how Obvy works. Log in to your Obvy account to verify that this is not a scam and that you have indeed received an offer to buy or sell. If there is no record of the transaction on Obvy, either on the browser(https://app.obvy-app.com) or on the Obvy mobile app, it is a scam.

Obvy will never ask you for login or security information via email, text or phone, such as your Obvy email address, password or PIN. Obvy may ask you for certain information in order to identify you and answer your questions, but never to send you a payment request.

  • All Obvy emails contain the domain name @obvy-app.com
  • Obvy's communications are free of language errors
  • Obvy does not add attachments to emails

Recognising fraudulent SMS messages

The suspicious text messages impersonating the Obvy brand mention sending a supposedly Obvy agent to your home to deliver cash for a purpose. In fact, we do not operate in this way at all, and we do not handle cash, nor do we have our own delivery or collection system. All our deliveries are made in partnership with Chronopost and Mondial Relay, and this only in relay points and not at home.

In order to prepare the scam, especially the fraudulent email, the scammers also ask for various information such as email address, postal address, and full name. To send or receive a sales or purchase proposal on Obvy, a buyer only needs the phone number or email address.
